Liverpool engineering firm unites city’s business community to support cancer care, neonatal research and NHS staff wellbeing Liverpool, April 2026 — Sutcliffe, the Liverpool-based civil & structural engineering and building surveyors, has raised £110,000 for three Liverpool NHS charities at its annual Spring Charity Ball, held at the Titanic Hotel’s Rum Warehouse on 24th April 2026.
The evening brought together clients, partners and the wider business community in support of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity and University Hospitals of Liverpool Charity. This year’s total builds on last year’s remarkable £89,000, taking Sutcliffe’s cumulative fundraising for NHS causes to over £320,000.
Funds raised for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity will help tackle health inequalities by supporting patients facing practical and financial barriers to completing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment. At Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity, donations will fund the Baby Belly Research Campaign, advancing neonatal care for babies requiring specialist support after birth. The third strand of fundraising will support the Health and Hope Campaign from University Hospitals of Liverpool Charity, providing vital support for patients, families and NHS staff at Aintree Major Trauma Centre—an initiative brought into sharp focus by major recent events across the region.
A poignant moment during the evening honoured the memory of Sue Wright, whose experience at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre inspired a significant donation from Matt Morris of Home Bargains. Faisal Arif, Sue’s partner and CEO of The Harrogate Group, paid tribute to her kindness, dedication and the lasting impact she made on thosearound her.
Sean Keyes, CEO of Sutcliffe, said:
“Every year I come away from the Spring Ball genuinely moved by the generosity of our industry. Our clients, partners and friends give their time, their money and their energy to causes that make a real difference to people’s lives across this city. These charities do vital, often unseen work—supporting patients, families and NHS staff through the toughest of times. As a business deeply rooted in healthcare construction across the Northwest, this is about more than fundraising; it’s about responsibility to the communities we serve. I am immensely proud of what we achieved together.”
The success of the evening was made possible by the support of headline sponsor Austin Wilkinson Demolition, alongside Layer Surveys, Butterworth Spengler, Fox IT, Titanic Hotel Liverpool, Seddon Housing Partnerships, John McCall Architects, Authentic People, Metro Developments and Walker Engineering.
Sutcliffe has a strong track record delivering healthcare projects across the Northwest, including the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Mossley Hill Hospital, The Christie and the Countess of Chester. The firm’s continued commitment to these charities reflects a belief that its role extends beyond the built environment to making a lasting difference in the communities it serves.
