Legal directory Chambers & Partners has recognised VWV as an industry-leading law firm in the West Midlands once again, increasing from five rankings to seven in the 2020 guide.

As a result of independent client and peer interviews, the directory ranks firms and solicitors based on the quality of their work.

Based in Brindleyplace, the award-winning law firm now counts six Partner and one team rankings. In particular:

  • Tom Brett Young has increased his ranking from Band 4 to Band 3 for Immigration law. He is also now included in the High Net Worth guide alongside Rachael Armstrong (ranked for Private Wealth).
  • Shivaji Shiva has achieved a new national ranking of ‘Recognised Partner’ for Charities, which identifies partners who handle notable matters and have received commendation during the research.
  • The Employment team, recognised for being “quick to respond” and their “excellent and clear advice,” have retained their Band 3 ranking for another year. Furthermore, Jane Byford and Kathy Halliday, both maintained their personal rankings.
  • Frances Anderson has been ranked Band 2 for Intellectual Property. One client praised, “She is detail-oriented, incredibly well versed in the law, fully engaged and cares about her clients.”

VWV’s Birmingham office has been going from strength to strength after recently achieving four Partner and eight practice area rankings in the recent Legal 500 guide. The firm also won the Excellence in Legal Services award at Birmingham’s Signature Awards in February, which celebrated the best in the business in the West Midlands.

Birmingham Office Partner Clive Read commented:

“In such a competitive industry, we are proud to be recognised by Chambers & Partners as a leading firm in the West Midlands. Achieving such a great result is a fantastic achievement and a good demonstration of the firms dedication to continuous improvement and providing clients with the support they need to ensure their legal needs are met. Congratulations to the individuals and teams involved, and thank you to all who worked hard on accomplishing this outcome.”
